When a child and his or her parent or guardian visit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Brevard, they enter a child-friendly facility staffed with individuals who are specially trained to deal with sexual and physical abuse, and neglect of children.
These compassionate, skilled professionals represent a comprehensive, multi-agency effort to investigate and monitor the progress on each case in order to:
- Prevent the re-victimization of children.
- Ensure that the children, and if necessary, non-offending family members, receive the counseling they may need either through the CACB Clinical Intervention Program, or via community mental health professionals.
- Provide expert opinions and recommendations based on specialized or forensic interviews, medical exams and/or other assessment measures to assist in the effective prosecution of offenders.
